In Pictures: iPhone iPhotography

Sometimes I snap the pictures on my iPhone faster than I can tweet them to the world. So here's a sampling of what I get to see every day as I flip through my phone.

Have You Seen Me Lately?

Miss me? Or more importantly, miss the updates about Kaitlyn? The past week offered a much deserved hiatus from blogging, since last month pretty much wiped the creative out of my juices. Otherwise I would have just posted juices, and no one wants that. That's how you ended up with nuggets like this and this. Not my best work, I must say.

Anywho, here's the scoop from the past week:
  • Kaitlyn likes to demand things now, as in "I want (enter any object of desire here)" or "I need (enter any object of desire here)." It's like she was a member of The Hills.
  • Michelle and I never take the camera out anymore since we've got iPhones. Michelle is now wishing that she got the 3GS so she could shoot video of all the fun things she complains about missing.
  • When it comes to the kiddie potty, Kaitlyn has become a pooping fool. Partly because we're working so hard with her. Partly because she gets three M&Ms for each deuce. I'l only give you one guess as to which has more influence.
  • She won't go to sleep on her own. She'll fall asleep on the couch, in the car, in Mommy and Daddy's bed, in Boo's bed, on the floor, on my chest, in the middle of Costco in the cart on a bust Saturday. But in her bed with the lights out and soft music playing? Nah.
  • Is it just me or did we skip a season? Near-90 degrees on two days earlier this week and more hot days a-coming. Good thing Kaitlyn doesn't get heat rash or have sensitive skin. Oh wait, Kaitlyn has both of those things. Fun times.
And I'm working on Growing Up Kaitlyn 2.0. Any suggestions on things you'd like to see (features, not content. I determine that), just leave a comment.

Strange(r) Parenting: There's an app for that ...

Just recently I got my baby back. Granted, it came with the provision that I get a new baby for my wife, but it was a small price to pay to once again be connected to the world I once knew.

One of the things I loved about my iPhone when I first got one nearly a year ago was that it wasn't just a new toy, but it was my toy. Facebook, Twitter, FourSquare, Skype. Had'em all on the iPhone before we had them on the laptop at home. Now, though, that toy with all those fun gadgets has become ... mainstream.

I mean, everyone and their mother (well, not my mother) has an iPhone. And it's the moms and dads that are using these things -- and the evidence is in the apps.

If you haven't seen, parenting apps are all the rage. Need a baby monitor? There's an app for that. Are you a new parent who wants to know how many poopie diapers you changed last week? There's an app for that. Want to keep track of your nursing sessions for some ungodly reason? There's an app for that. Are you an annoying list making mother who constantly needs to know what to bring anywhere you go with your baby Michelle? There's an app for that.

What's next? I've heard rumors of an app that will actually tell you what your baby's cooing means. I've heard of rumors of an app that will diagnose your child's symptoms and recommend a course of action. I've even heard of an app that automatically alerts Angelina Jolie when a child is born so that she can start the adoption process.
